Hey travel fam, just back from my island getaway courtesy of Hawaiian Airlines, and wanted to share some insights on their LAX terminal situation. Buckle up, it's a bit of a journey!
Gone are the days of Terminal 5. As of October 2021, Hawaiian Airlines has set up camp at Terminal B, also known as the Tom Bradley International Terminal. It's a spacious upgrade, lots of natural light and fancy shops, but brace yourselves for some serious walking. My Fitbit went nuts!
Check-in and baggage claim are in the main building of Terminal B, which is all good. But then comes the adventure: reaching your gate. Hawaiian flies out of the West Gates (gates 201-225), and let me tell you, those suckers are far. Plan for a good 15-20 minutes of brisk walking, past a maze of corridors, escalators, and even an underground tunnel (jet fuel smells, prepare!). Hawaiian recommends this walking time, but trust me, I saw some panicked sprints at security checkpoints.
My tip? Grab your snacks and drinks before you trek to the West Gates. The pickings are slim over there, and you wouldn't want to be hangry facing that long hallway. Plus, the main terminal has much more variety.
Overall, the Hawaiian Airlines terminal at LAX is a mixed bag. Spacious and shiny, yes, but be prepared for the trek to your gate (and maybe pack some comfy shoes!). If you're short on time or have mobility limitations, consider asking for assistance. Hawaiian staff was helpful in pointing me in the right direction.
So, there you have it, my fellow globetrotters. Hopefully, this post helps you navigate the Hawaiian Airlines terminal at LAX and get you on your way to island paradise a little smoother. Aloha!
